Admission
Admission to the Bachelor Programme of Biology Education at Universitas Tanjungpura follows the university’s established policies for student admission, governed by the latest regulations outlined in the Regulation No. 48 of 2022 issued by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. This document specifies three primary selection schemes for prospective students: National Selection Based on Achievement (Seleksi Nasional Berdasarkan Prestasi, SNBP), National Selection Based on Test (Seleksi Nasional Berdasarkan Tes, SNBT), and Institution Independent Selection (Seleksi Jalur Mandiri, SJM).
The SNBP scheme is an admission pathway that evaluates candidates based on academic records, portfolios, and other documented achievements. This scheme aims to provide opportunities for high-achieving students from high schools, vocational schools, and madrasah aliyah, both domestically and internationally (including students from Sekolah Republik Indonesia, SRI), to pursue higher education at state universities. State universities are government-managed institutions that encompass academic, vocational, and state Islamic religious universities. The SNBP scheme also seeks to enable state universities to admit highly accomplished prospective students. More detailed information regarding the SNBP scheme can be accessed in https://snpmb.bppp.kemdikbud.go.id/snbp/informasi-umum.
The SNBT scheme is a standardized national entrance examination for admission to state universities. This scheme relies primarily on the results of a national written examination (known as Ujian Tulis Berbasis Komputer, UTBK) open to high school graduates. More detailed information regarding the SNBT scheme can be accessed in https://snpmb.bppp.kemdikbud.go.id/utbk-snbt/informasi-umum. The eligibility criteria for this scheme include:
1. Applicants must be Indonesian citizens (Warga Negara Indonesia, WNI) with valid National Identification Number (Nomor Induk Kependudukan, NIK).
2. Current students in Grade 12 or the final year of high school are eligible to apply.
3. Graduates of senior high schools or equivalent institutions within the past two years are eligible.
Graduates of equivalent high schools from abroad must ensure the relevant authorities officially recognize their diplomas.
5. Applicants must meet the required health standards to ensure they can effectively participate in and complete their studies.
Universitas Tanjungpura conducted the SJM scheme. It offers an additional opportunity for students who are unsuccessful in the SNBP or SNBT processes. The selection criteria are based on internal university policies and may involve additional assessments. The SJM scheme follows the Rector’s Decree Number 1816/UN22/TM.00/2024, issued on 2 May 2024. This decree outlines the official guidelines for the SJM mechanism for undergraduate admissions at Universitas Tanjungpura. The document adheres to the provisions stipulated in Article 8, Paragraph (5) of the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology No. 48 of 2022, which governs the admission of prospective students to diploma and undergraduate programmes at state universities. This regulation was subsequently amended by Ministerial Regulation No. 62 of 2023. More detailed information regarding the SJM scheme can be accessed in https://scmb.untan.ac.id/. Universitas Tanjungpura admits outstanding candidates through one of the three categories: UTBK Scores, Affirmative Policies, and Achievement and Talent Identification.
